The differences between the 2 that i found was in Front page you had to start with a blank page. This also took a lot longer to construct because you physically had to go in and add any tables and place them where you wanted them. Adjust cell spacing, padding etc. Add pictures, text and links to other pages and create each new page to your web site. This is why for building a web site in Front page, it is a good idea to have a storyboard done before hand so you know exactly where everything goes and get an idea of what its going to look like.
Using the web 2.0 site i was able to complete my site 1,2,3. I was done in half the time it took me to build it in Front page. I was just able to go in and pick a template that already had the design built for you. I looked for the template that fit the best with my storyboard. The templates were fairly close but something might of been located a little different then from the initial story board. After that just pretty much click on the area i wanted to have something and copy what ever it was i wanted there. And it created the other pages of the site within a second. I notice the one thing that was different was in Web 2.0 you could add a photo gallery in a matter of just uploading the photos and as many as you wanted.
The only adjustments that i had to make on the Web 2.0 was my header was left aligned and my buttons were righted aligned beside the header. But pretty much everything else was were it was placed on my storyboard. And there was a few things added on like your email address and a copy of the header underneath. The only problem i had and still can't fix it is the header for each page. Everytime i change the header for one page, all the pages have that exact header, instead of the header i created for that page. I had fun.

What i have learned in class
I learned how to create a basic website. Learning the CRAP principles about a website or an ad makes me view them now a lot differently.
Now i can actually design a site about my family that way my friends and family who no longer live around here can go in an read all about my them and watch them grow up. The one thing i really enjoyed was using the photo shop. When it comes to computers i usually run to my brother and nephew and they always tell me that their going to get me the book, computers for dummies.lol. But anyway learning photo shop was something i always wanted to do. i have millions of photos laying around and I'm actually able to go in and have some fun with some of them. And that will make it all the more memorable in years to come. There was a lot more i wanted to do with my sight but taking two classes was a challenge, so i just made it simple.

My website
My wesite is about Las Vegas. I went their twice. I really want to give people who's never been there a little taste of what that reality is all about. I will be using my own photos that i took in Vegas. I will be using Frontpage in the class and if i don't finish i'm able to finish it at home because i do have Frontpage on my computer.
The purpose of storyboards
The purpose of a storyboard lets you lay your website out on paper first. Allowing you to mark where your tables are going to be, how pictures are going to be placed. Where the text is to be placed. so this way when you go into a web designing program you're not flustered thinking about how to place everything and not sure how it's going to turn out. Storyboards lay out everything and gives you an idea of what it will look like. Taking and applying things one step at a time and making sure you don't forget anything. This will help me in making a web site instead of trying to put one together off the top of my head and in the end getting no result because i would be confused and frustrated.
Chapters 13-15
Chapter 13- Basically everything all comes together. It talks about tables and how you can slice graphics and then take the pieces and put them into different cells of a table for a more sopisticated look. Using richer color in your photos and using easy to read small type. If you have a large graphic on a page that will take a while to download, how you can create a lower quality image to load first. Gives you quick photoshop tips to enhance your website. How to create forms and how to activate your forms. And talks about after becoming familiar with basic web page design, how you can step it up and add animation.
Chapter 14- Talks about how you got to make sure you put everything for your website in the website folder before you put them on the html page. After you linked everything make sure you do not move or rename anything. In case you have a problem you know exactly where everythings at. And thats where site management software comes in. Most web authoring package has some sort of site management features. Also talks about how to test your site and the different problems that could occur.
Chapter 15- Basically talks about getting all your files together and naming them properly and putting them in the right spot in your web folder. Uploading the files and how to test your site online.

wk 4 diigo-website design
The first website was basically just a recap from what we learned in the html lab. Writing html to change the text, background, or even how to put graphics in, etc.
Yes anyone with a computer can create a website but the key is just keeping it simple and to the point. You want to be able to guide the visitors attention throughout your site. Making sure to design the page and the stuff you place on a page easy to use. So nobody walks away feeling stupid or frustrated.
The biggest advantage to creating your own website is that you'll save yourself a lot of money and being able to go in and change things yourself when there's a problem rather then having to wait for whoever designed you're website to go in and fix it. There again more money. Some of the drawbacks really are if you're not familiar with what you're doing can really turn out to be a desaster.
The difference between usability and accessibility with regards to web design is that usability is designing to make the stuff on the page easier to use and accessibility is how well everything is displayed. Is it easy to find something? These are both important factors in developing a good website. You don't want people to go to your page and not being able to find their way around they'll leave feeling confused and frustrated.

Chapters 3&4
Some of the material that i read about was a recap from what we had gone over in class, when we were working on the sample website we got in class. The first thing you need to remember when starting a website is make and name a folder to store your website. Within this folder create subfolders for the images, text and so forth. This way when you need to go back and find something you know exactly where's it's located. Using web authoring software packages in creating a web page is as easy as making a word processing page. It lets you change the text, change the color of text even the background of the page. Creating links to different pages within your site or even a link to a different site or even e-mail link. Being able to add graphics and columns and the difference between absolute vs. relative table widths. It doesn't matter what computer you have or anyone else has, they can all read html. Learned what a browser does. If you want your web site posted to the web, you have to find someone with a server to host your site. Sometimes you have to pay money sometimes not.

Critical of websites in the future
I definitly will be more critical of websites. When i use to go into a website, i always thought about is this a reliable source, or how do i know if this site is legit. Since i learned how to view a website and evaluate the site i find that when i go to a site i'm automatically looking at the site a lot different. I will definitly be keeping all these things in mind when i go to create a website because i want to be able to have anyone look at that site without having any problems. Because i remember going into sites and not being able to do anything because everything was so unclear and it made me feel like i was stupid.
2 website evaluations.
The first website i chose was my bank, www.susquehanna.net. First, i looked at the design itself and then walked it through the steps in evaluting the site to see if it actually was a reliable site, The background was light. Text wasn't big at all, very easy reading and the text was center aligned. links were clear and accessible in a couple places. The first set of links going straight across the site, with drop down boxes that identify more specific details of that certain area. You're able to find out anything you want to know about them. Where there located or even being able to contact them on the phone. Kept very simple with the use of two simple colors. Very clear.Very few graphics used. But most of all very straight to the point, no confussion.
The second website i checked out is where my kids love to shop, www.zumiez.com. Background is white. For their links, everything is clearly marked. Text is readable. Some capitals used for some of the links. You're able to find you're way around ok, but the first page i think might have a little too much graphics. The graphics are done up in boxes and ther's alot of white showing through but i just felt as if i was trying to resd everything at one time.

What's your style, organizing information for the Web
I went to the moodle website and followed the link. Was not able to get it. I went to the library site and still was unable to get the article. Please any suggestions?
Diigo-Website Evaluation
In designing a good website you need to focus on four areas and keeping it simple. The four areas are the background, text links, graphics and the clarity of the site. If you cannot verify the credibility of information on a website, it's not a very reliable site. In evaluating the site, you should be to verify the authority, purpose of the site, currency-is the information updated, objectivity and how the site is supported.
Chapters 7&8
I now know that interface refers to how the page looks. How well does your page work and interact with who ever is visiting your page. You don't have to have a complex plan to design a good website. It can be simple. A good website should be kept within 800x600 pixel resolution and size since everyone does not have the same size monitor. Anyone should be able to navigate to and from any page in the website. Navigation links should be kept simple so whoever is viewing the site can do it with ease and don't confussion. Consistency and repetition should be used throughout the website to let the viewer know their still within the same website.

Chapter 9-10, 12 (color, resolution..)
I learned about the difference between CMYK color and RGB color. How to change the resolution of an image and also how to change an image to be able to use it for the web. Also when to save a picture or an image as a GIF or a JPEG. I even learned about readability vs. legibility. What font and color is more legible to read than another. Learned about cross-platform fonts, monitor resolutions and font rendering on different platforms. Also learned about but not to sure if i'm understanding it correctly about proportional vs. monospaced type, logical vs. physical styles and cascading style sheets. I not sure really what to make of some of this. But i guess it's all about practice. So will see how it goes.
I don't think it's a good idea to take a digital picture and attach it to an e-mail, add it to a blog or even upload it to their personal web space without making any changes first. You don't know what that files even going to turn out to look like. It could be too big and have poor resolution. And you don't even know if someone else is even going to be able to open it up on their computer.
Some changes you should make to an image to make it web ready: Crop- removing any unwanted background. File size- what ever is appropriate, reduce by saving it as a JPEG or GIF. Resolution- setting it to either 72 or 96. Anti-aliasing- Smoothing out the edges. Resize- resizing the image to make it either smaller or bigger.

Blog pole(Blog Extra#2)
I did my poll the same way i added my blogger background. Found it pretty easy.
First off, trying to get everybody linked to my blog i found this a little challenging. Not sure if i did it righ but i was able to go in to everyone's poll and do the activity except for one. I'm not sure if she posted it or not. I couldn't find anything. I did the poll activity and found people came up with some creative questions. The one i like the most is, would you ever live in a retirement home? This hits a little close to home. After my grandmother passed away my mom was left to take care of her sister. She is mentally challenged and going on 80 years old. Since my father passed away 1year ago, my mom is confined to the house because my aunt is under the nurses care and not allowed to go anywhere. My aunt is getting really nasty towards her and before my mom ends up in and early grave, the decision is should we put her in a nursing home or not.

Blogger background(Blog Extra#1)
This wasn't as bad as i thought. First i had to copy the contents underneath the back ground. Then i had to go to the page elements under the layout tab. I needed to add the HTML/java script gadget. After i added this gadget i needed to edit it and if there was anything in the contents, i deleted it and then pasted my new background and hit saved and it was done.
Chapters 1-2, 5-6, pp186-192 (web design vs print)
I had an understanding before i took this class on what the internet is, what an ISP provider is and what the difference was on the type of connection you have. Some are faster some are slower. I learned the four key principles to making a graphic design that you need to follow if you want to be able to keep the persons attention and not have them go on to something else: alignment, proximity, repetition, and contrast.
Graphic design plays a role in our everyday lives and activities in that if we need information about something or if were going somewhere. With print or even with the web we can get information about a certain topic were interested in, find out dates and times of an event or just wanting to explore and learn something new. One thing i did learn with printed material you can take it with you but it might not always be the correct information, especially if something was updated where as web you're sure to get the updated information.
Designing for print is different then designing for the web in that with print once it's printed and there's anything wrong you have to have it printed all over. Also down the road if the information changes there again you have to go and have it reprinted. Time and money to have this done. Where as with the web you don't have to go any where. Just go in change or update anything and boom it's done in a matter of a few minutes. You don't have to go anywhere or pay alot of money.
